  OTHER INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS FOR INFRASOUNDS

BASIC PRINCIPLE :
"Infrasounds" are sonic waves with very low frequency and very long wave length. To produce high power infrasounds, you must :

- have a quite large volume
- have a more or less closed cavity
- be able to connect the generator onto this cavity

Applications of infrasounds use the property of making a pulsation of the gas.
FLUIDISATION :
All applications where it is useful to keep small objects or powder "flying":
- in an incineration kiln
- in a fluidised bed kiln (blowing of air moved by infrasounds help combustion and help to keep grades clean)
- in powder transfers (infrasounds can increase their flow)
- in rotary fans ("sound" type cleaning is the only way to clean with the fans remaining in operation, and infrasounds are not as disturbing for people as the sometimes used 250Hz sound waves)
DRYING :
Drying of small parts or granules (and probably fabrics) is improved when blowing air with infrasounds.
Curing of phenolic resin in glass wool (fiberglass) is improved by the use of infrasounds.
FREEZING :
Infrasounds used in cooling air improve heat transfer for freezing.
