CLEANING
SOOT FROM INDUSTRIAL BOILERS
An industrial boiler is designed for the best heat exchange between:
 the
heat of the smoke, and
 the
fluid in the tubes of the boiler
Of course the temperature is continually decreasing from the kiln of the
burner to the outlet .
Soot clogging will result in :
 loss
of efficiency
 decreasing
of the area of contact for the gas
 decreasing
of the gas flow and of the power output of the boiler
Any technical choice is a compromise!
All soot cleaning devices have their advantages and disadvantages… They
should be considered as complementary more than in competition with each
other!
There are three basic types , based on these principles:
 dynamic
jets clean the surface hit by the jet
 mechanical
or acoustical waves avoid deposits on tubes
 chemical
additives improve burning to modify chemical deposit nature
